Take your household hazardous waste to a safer place. Participate in the Department of Environment’s Environmental Resource Event and take the opportunity to
- properly dispose of household hazardous waste;
- recycle old computers, monitors, laptops and cell phones;
- drop off old gas-powered lawn mowers and receive a $100 rebate towards an electric or push mower;
- bring in your expired or unused medications and keep them out of our water system;
- pick up a free compact fluorescent light bulb; and
- purchase a $35 outdoor compost bin or $45 rain barrel (available to

Irish Earth Day Festival
This free event is open to the Chicagoland community and will showcase companies and non-profits promoting sustainable living. Vendors will display Earth-friendly products, conservation, recycling, sustainable agriculture and alternative energy. There will be children’s activities, live music and food for purchase.
The Irish Earth Day Festival is Saturday, April 18, from 10am to 4pm and is free. Celebrate Earth Day with Chicago’s original green community!

The Chicago Conservation Corps is seeking passionate teachers who want to make a difference in their school community. Start an after-school environmental service club with your students. Access curriculum, materials, training workshops, and more from the Chicago Department of
